Two things I didn’t know I could love so much… Couples that sing together and ugly crying on a toasty September afternoon. And yet, after listing to Drew and Emily’s pre recorded song they played while serving their entire congregation of wedding guest communion in the middle of the ceremony there I was… sweating.. and straight up ugly crying. So yeah, Im pretty much a major Emily and Drew fan girl after hearing their angelic voices harmonize together. And Im not as embarrassed as I thought I’d be about the fact that I am pretty sure half the guest saw my snotty ugly cry. Even if I was trying to hide it with my camera. Some weddings just bring you back to the day you gave the man of your dreams your heart forever. Some weddings remind you why the world needs healthy God-centered marriages. And some weddings just make you ugly cry!
Emily contacted me after I photographed our mutual friends wedding in Florida. In her words I was what she was looking for and I couldn’t even believe that! So Em and Drew brought me to North Carolina to photograph the beginning of their best days. And can I just say that I was so incredibly honored? Like got in my car and let out a big sigh of relief and contentment thanking The Lord for that day. Emily and Drew’s wedding was so special it weighed on my mind the entire 8 hour drive home. The way they served their guest and the way they served each other. Their love for The Lord and desire for all people to see Him working their lives. They are the kind of people that make you want what they have. They make you wonder what they are doing to have such joy and contemned in life. And I can tell you it’s a genuine love for Jesus.
I have been to and photographed weddings where the guest were there to be entertained, served their hot meal, and sit the remainder of the event in hopes the wedding couple doesn’t make them stay too long. Not this wedding. Emily and Drew’s wedding guests were there to be present. To witness the entire day that the two became one. To witness the miracle and sacredness of marriage. And oh my goodness. The BRIDAL PARTY. ‘Party’ is definitely the right word as they kept me laughing the entire day. Em and Drew are truly surrounded by people who love them, care about them, and believe in them. This wedding refreshed my little photographer soul and I fell in love with marriage (all over again) and all that God has designed it to be. What a privilege it was to document this glorious day.
Oh- And thankful for photographer bridesmaids who set up random shots like this first one! Check out Lindsay Bess Photography!
